Exploring science in the junior pods …. Blowing bubbles

Do you know how to make a bubble maker? We used 2 pipe cleaners each to make our own bubble wands then we tested them to see if they would work. We tried different shapes to see which ones made the biggest bubbles. The bigger shapes were the best and if we blew softly the bubbles didn’t pop!

We have been learning about surface tension and molecules.

Did you know ….. “A bubble is just air wrapped in soap film. Soap film is made from soap and water.  The outside and inside surfaces of a bubble consist of soap molecules. A thin layer of water lies between the two layers of soap molecules, sort of like a water sandwich with soap molecules for bread. They work together to hold air inside. This makes the bubble” (from kidsdiscover.com)
